The Junta de Andalucia has approved an 87 million Euro programme to help Small and Medium-sized businesses restore their technical and financial viability within a reasonable time period.

In order to qualify for this aid, companies must provide proof of their “business is in difficulty” status as defined by the European Union (Community Guidelines 2004/C 244/02).

It is important to point out that newly created companies (within 3 years following the start of operations) are not eligible, nor those emerging from the liquidation of a previous business or taking over the company’s assets.

The aid is available in two forms:

(i) “Rescue Aid” consisting of liquidity support through loan guarantees or loans whose objective is to keep an ailing firm afloat for the time required to work out a restructuring or liquidation plan;

(ii)“Restructuring Aid” which will be based on a feasible, coherent and far-reaching plan to restore the company’s long term viability, which must be approved by the Innovation and Development Agency of Andalucia (Agencia IDEA).

Applications can be submitted until 30th December 2009 through “Agencia IDEA”.
